Colorado River

The Colorado River is some of our favorite float fishing and our seasoned guides know every bend like the back of their hand. When Minturn Anglers guides are on the water, which is almost every day, they are happy to share the fishing report for the Colorado River. We in turn share this with you. Read below for accurate fishing conditions, fly selection and everything else you need to know to produce while fly fishing on the Colorado River.

Colorado River Reports – Summer/Fall 2013

10/29/2013 Pumphouse to Two Bridges has been the spot this month for streamers, dries and nymphs. Let the fish tell ya which style they prefer. Watch for fish feeding actively subsurface from 11am to 4pm. A good rig can always start with a small beadhead prince nymph followed by midges of your choice. When the bobber goes down, the music goes up! If you prefer a top water take, midges and baetis behind a big Read More

Colorado River Report – 7/16/13

A bump in flows gave us some much needed water this week but we desperately need more. The fishing remains very good but we are keeping a close eye on afternoon water temps until we receive our summer water. Concentrate your efforts from State Bridge – Pumphouse for the best fishing, wade or float. Sallies, Red Quills, Pmds and terrestrials are abundant and lots of fish are suspended in the riffles eating emergers and adults. Read More

Colorado River Late Summer Fishing Report | Hopper Season on the Right Bank

Colorado River Stream flows are currently 944 CFS at Pumphouse and the river has been fishing well when the water remains clear to relatively clear. Had a chance to serve as a volunteer guide on a Project Healing Waters float trip down the Colorado River along with the guys at Boulder Boat Works.  We had a great time fishing with our veterans!  I’ve rowed a lot of boats, and until now I’ve always thought a Read More

Low Water Colorado River Fishing Report | Pumphouse to Statebridge

Last year at this time, I probably set a record for the highest flow to ever run the Upper Colorado in a drift boat.  This year I probably set a similar record for the lowest flow to ever run the Colorado in a drift boat.  What a difference a year makes. Video above from Yarmony rapid last year. It doesn’t even feel like the the same river. Let’s hope for a wet summer. 287 CFS Read More

We typically fish the Colorado river from the “Radium” put in all the way down to “Two Bridges” river access point about 20 miles downstream.  What you Read More

Colorado River Fishing Report | Upper Colorado Spring Fishing

The Colorado River fishing earlier this week  was great as we knocked out our first float of 2012. Sunny day, good company, lots of fish and most importantly my boat still floats! We floated Pumphouse to Rancho Del Rio which at this flow (550 CFS) makes for a really long but great float. We put in around 10 AM and fishing was a bit slow out of the gate from the boat ramp to the Read More
