Hot Flies: Brook’s Sprout Midge #18-20, Morgan’s Para-Midge #18-20, Palamino Midge #16-18, Flasha Midge #18-20, Light Tan-Shell Pink pigstickers and San JuansDetails:March was an epic month for those seeking the first consistent surface action in Deckers. Midgzilla as we call it, is a big midge in #16-18 was out in full force! Often mistaken for a BWO, this big midge has fish eating the emergers hard from 9-11AM, and action switching to the surface from 11-1PM. Look for the fish in the runs to be actively feeding in the early going. Pay attention as they slowly begin shifting to the slack water and hitting the surface at around 11AM. AS the big midge tapers off, expect them to be replaced with BWO’s any day now. Deckers up, best fished with 6-7X. Deckers bridge down 5- 6x are just fine with bigger attractor flies like a high-Viz Griffith’s Knat. Pay attention to the banks as the snow melts. You will notice a lot of worms washing into the river.Dream Stream

Hot Flies: Spicer’s Glue Egg, #12-18 Pigstickers of various colors, #16 Red CritterDetails:Flows just came up to the magic 100 mark! Expect good numbers of fish to push into the dream stream with higher flows, and warmer weather. Likewise, expect the people to flock as fast as the fish.Eagle River
Flow: 140ish in Avon
Rating: Very Good
Hot Flies: Egg’s, #18 Hurricane Midge, and any other Midge in Size #16-18. #14-16 Twenty Incher
Details: Water is getting off color below Walcott, but staying relatively clear above Edwards. Runnoff looks to be coming early this year. Don’t be afraid of the off color water–adjust your fly size, flash, and color schemes accordingly. All and all an excellent time to be on the Eagle.
Other Hot Spots
Roaring Fork: The Fork is on FIRE! Big midges bringing fish up, and nymph fishing with about any bug in size 12-18 is producing.
Colorado: Fishing well at Parshall and below Glenwood. BWO patterns working well on the surface, nymphing a #14 prince trailed by a #16-18 Barr’s emerger will keep your rod bent ALL DAY LONG!
