Eagle River

Game on boys and girls! The Eagle River is back from it’s few week reprieve and better than ever. Though still high, the water has cleaned up substantially and clarity has been revived. Fish are hungry and eating darn near everything you throw at them though caddis pupa and larvae seem to grab more attention than others. If you like to throw the dry, wait until the evening. Caddis are coming off in epic proportions at dusk with all fish throwing caution to the wind. Do not miss the evening “happy hour”!
Creeks
All the tiny tribs are in great shape and fish are loving the big dries and flashy nymphs. Copper Johns and PMX’s make for a deadly combo on the upper Eagle, Homestake, Cross and Brush Creek respectively. Don’t be afraid to throw a streamer either!
Colorado River
Boy what a difference a week can make. The Colorado is plummeting like a stone and has come down from 8,000cfs to 4,000cfs in 6 days and the fish have noticed. The double digit days are back in effect with stoneflies still on their minds. For the streamer fishermen reading this too… your time has arrived.
