Eagle River
Recent rain and snow has the Eagle River fishing extremely well from Minturn to Dotsero. Check the conditions in advance for the lower stretches as they can get a little dirty. The rain and snow has also kept people away so these fish are happy, healthy and fat. Great combo for a fly fisherman! Rain is what streamer fishermen LOVE and now is the time to do it so grab your tandem streamer rigs or your big nasty articulated streamers and put some focus on your sections from Wolcott to Dotsero for your best chance at a pig. If you’re not hog hunting, there’s plenty of fun to be had in Minturn and Eagle-Vail. Bring a 3 weight and some tiny bugs and put a bend in that bad boy. Needless to say, please don’t walk on/fish over spawning beds!!! Need a guide? We got em >>>
Gore Creek

Something about Fall on Gore Creek can be quite special. Thin water or not, these guys are fattening up for the Winter and want to eat your bugs. They are spread throughout so plan on covering some water and walking a little bit but please be respectful of private water. Eggs, midges and small baetis patterns are the go to flies but caddis nymphs will catch em too. There’s nothing that says ya can’t try dries either! Look for BWOs in the afternoon and midges throughout the day.

Colorado River
Streamers. Streamers. Did I mention streamers? Every day the streamer fishing gets better (see our awesome streamer trips above) but that only lasts so long. If streamer fishing isn’t your digs, the nymph bite is still productive also as the fish are eating all throughout the day and all throughout the water column. Stick to the small stuff – Barrs Emergers, Rojo Midges, Desert Storms, Medallion Midges and Holla Back Girls.  If you aren’t familiar with the Colorado River…  Hire a guide from Minturn Anglers for optimal fishing results

Great Weather and Great Fishing

The Dream Stream is starting to fish quite well and our guides are hard at work making magic happen (see picture above). Generous flows and stream rehab has really made an incredible place that much more awesome. The fish are only pre-spawn for so long and no one encourages you to fish to spawning fish so get your name in the books as soon as possible for your best shot of holding a big ol fish like the one above. You won’t be disappointed! Book your Dream Stream trip TODAY!

Deckers
The Broncos bye week is behind usa and the river is recovering nicely. BWO emergers are the jam but keep it sub-surface! Not too many risers these days.  Spring Creek Geeks and Black RS2’s are the hot flies or you can throw articulated streamers. Those are crushing as well.  If you see spawners, let em be!!!

Creeks
Fall colors on the Front Range are in full form and it’s a beautiful, scenic time to fish small creeks. Let the other folk chase spawners, get some solidarity and some stellar fishing on Bear Creek, Boulder Creek or Clear Creek. Fish are still rising to small hoppers and caddis and they are also chasing wooly buggers. Bring the camera and take it all in!

Urban S. Platte

Oh the lovely urban sections of our favorite river! Carp are beginning to move into their winter lies and can be caught in the head of riffles and runs. Worms, dead drifted Thin Mints, big Hare’s Ears and any style of jig fly should get eaten quite nicely. There are trout there too, browns especially so don’t be afraid to strip a big articulated streamer.

Dream Stream
The Dream Stream is in fine form and the crowds are there in force. Plan to fish a weekday either earlier or later for your best chance at a big pre-spawn brown. The Dream Stream should fish well until mid-late November but please be very mindful of the fish you are targeting. Focus on the deep holes and depressions and please please please don’t pester the spawning fish. As the crowds grow the flies shrink so small flossy worms, eggs, leeches and emergers are the flies to fish. If you feel confident in a spot, stick to it. Sometimes they just need the fly to hit em on the nose.
