This gorgeous tailwater is home to a variety of different fish depending on which section you fish. Below Stagecoach Reservoir is a favorite stretch for the guys and gals at Minturn Anglers. This section of the Yampa River is home to brown, rainbow and even some brook trout and these fish tend to grow large and eat flies like it’s going out of style. Please make sure to obey all signs as there is plenty of private water on this stream.
As you go further down on the Yampa River, it broadens due to the influence of smaller tributaries and warms up providing great habitat for pike and walleye and smallmouth. This river truly has a little bit for everyone and stretches 250 miles from where it starts in Northwestern Colorado down to where it meets the Green River in Dinasaur National Monument.
