Colorado Archery Elk Hunts

2016 Archery Elk Hunts

Unit 521

Bull to Cow Ratio: 21:100 per CPW

We have affiliated with Colorado Hunting Adventures LLC (“CHA”) for many years and are more than excited to offer these hosted weeks for you and this year is looking to be a banner year. Base Camp is hosted at a cozy private cabin in unit 521 nestled in between Redstone and Paonia. This unit holds large bull elk and offers an exceptional high country hunting experience for over-the-counter archery elk hunters. Hunts take place on a mixture of both private land and public land reachable through our private access. Average Bulls range on the larger scale with antler growth between 280″-310″. Many trophies are taken yearly averaging 300+”. The guide staff often achieves 100% success rate for shot opportunities for archers and they are committed to working their tail off to provide you with the best shot opportunity possible. Archers should be proficient at shooting up to 40 yards; most opportunities usually occur at 20 or less range and 40 yards being on the longer range.

The amenities do not stop there. A Minturn Anglers chef prepares all your meals. Hunters will awake to a warm breakfast to start their day and will have bags of snacks prepared to accompany on them on their daily adventure, should they so desire. Hunters will return to both lunch and dinner prepared and awaiting them after a long morning and afternoon hunt.

Our guided hunts are all inclusive. We don’t tack on trophy fees, ATV rental, packing out your elk, etc…

Hunters are responsible for providing their own personal hunting gear, clothing, transportation to the ranch, tags/licenses, processing, taxidermy and guide gratuity. Minturn Anglers is a proud dealer of Sitka Gear, the preferred gear of CHA guides, and our trained professionals will be happy to go over all your necessary preparations from your clothing down to your gear and tags.

Colorado Archery Elk Hunts Minturn Anglers

Week 1; Arrive 8/26/16 at 2:00 PM and depart 9/1/16 at 10:00 AM (5 full day guided hunts).

This week offers first shot at hunting high country non pressured bulls. The bulls are about to enter the pre-rut stage and can be found traveling in bachelor groups at higher elevation. A favorite hunt among hunters who enjoy chasing down non-pressured bulls in the high country. This week is action packed every year.

Week 4: Arrive 9/16/16 at 2:00 PM and depart 9/22/16 at 10:00 AM for the 4th week of archery. (5 full day guided hunts).

Our most popular time to be chasing bulls in the high country with a bow. The elk are fired up and sounding off. This hunt offers the opportunity to hunt elk in full swing of the rut. Archers are afforded the rare opportunity to get up high and locate bulls with a bugle and call them in for close action! The bulls are aggressive and so are the tactics. This hunt typically offers intense action and that will surely get your heart pounding.

*All Archery hunts are operated under Colorado Hunting Adventures LLC (“CHA”) – Outfitter #2776. CHA operates on private land and under special use permits from the United States Forest Service.

GMU 42

Bull to Cow Ratio: 21:100 per CPW

This hunt offers full private access hunting in Unit 42. Silt, CO is notorious for good elk hunting but doesn’t see the traffic on public land that other parts of Colorado have issues with. Property joins BLM and The White River National Forest. Timber consists of oak, cedar and aspen. The bulls in this unit range 260″-300″ on average with regular trophies taken at 300″ +. 1st season rifle, offers first crack at elk with a rifle after they have had a chance to settle in after the archery season. This is the most popular season among hunters and is often the most competitive on public land. Our property backs up to USFS and BLM providing a safe haven for the elk on our land that has little to no pressure. Luckily, our private land offers hunters the opportunity to snatch up a leftover license in our unit and hunt this once in a lifetime property. These tags will go quick so we need to act fast!

The amenities do not stop there; camp chefs will prepare all your meals. Hunters will awake to a warm breakfast to start their day and will have bags of snacks prepared to accompany them on their daily adventure.
