Eagle River Guide Report – John Donovan
The fish are broadening their diet!
With a break from work, I spent the day fly fishing fishing the Eagle River, below Edwards, on the 13th and it might have been the best fishing of the year! With mid day air temps in the low 40’s and the water about the same, it was the perfect Spring Break fly fishing party!
Size 14 Birds of Prey with a size 22 Black Juju was flavor of the day with fish smacking both. Fishing stays consistent as long as you are aware of water depth and adjust your Thingamabobber throughout the day. I saw a few noses poking through as the midge hatch was on and drifted a few over their heads with some good results.
Finally to round the day out I threw some streamers: anything green/olive had the toads in hot pursuit! Swing on by Minturn Anglers for more detail, flies, fluorocarbon and weight!
