Mid-Day Midge hatches with BWO’s during in-climate weather

Our guides and staff are still hard at it, keeping the Eagle River trout honest. Our honey holes have mostly been in the “urban” stretches of Minturn, Avon, Edwards and Gypsum. No need to wake up early, we are lucky to have a gentleman’s bite this time of year so shoot to hit the water around 11am earliest.

Our most successful fly pattern selections have a few things in common; they are small and sparse! UV Midges, RS 2’s, Thread Midges, Top Secret, Killer Baetis, Real Meal and Killer Mayfly. Every rig should have at least one of those bad boys and it never hurts to get them down with a big Pat’s Rubber Legs or a Stone Bomb. It never hurts to have a few eggs either….

Flows are just above average in Avon at 74CFS and the temps are fluctuating in the 30’s.

If you have any questions or need any flies, stop by the shop in Minturn and we will hook you up!
