Deckers
Deckers has been getting gradually better week by week even with a drop in flows. If you get out this weekend, PLEASE be safe on the roads with all the snow! If you are brave enough, hell yes. Midges, Olives and anything small subsurface will get their attention, especially a delicious juicy bead.
Dream Stream
It’s beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Spring and the cutthroat and rainbows have similar feelings. Though there is plenty of open water to fish, the big fatties aren’t quite there yet. You can find a few fish beginning to make their way up in the lower stretches but the low flows have em quite spooky. For flies and recommendations, swing by the shop.
Arkansas River
This week’s snow has made the fish a little stubborn but it’s still worth the trip based on accessibility. This weekend should be great from a traffic standpoint with the foot + of snow expected. Same as your other tailwaters, midges, olives, eggs and worms! The bigger fish are deeper so split shot, tungsten putty and heavy lead flies are a must.
Urban South Platte
Believe it or not, we do just as good on carp during inclement weather as If you want to fish, this is the easiest and your best shot at a lunker but plan to see plenty of other anglers! Hex nymphs, pheasant tails, and anything downright buggy should get their attention.
