Eagle River

Run off is in full effect guys. The Eagle River is runnin’ at 2410CFS as we speak and continues to go up. Fish will eat even in the chocolate mud and we’ve even seen fish rising! If you do decide you want to brave the flows, please please PLEASE be careful out there! Best patterns are caddis dries and emergers (if you see actively rising fish) and stonefly patterns in black, brown, and olive. Don’t forget the pink worm!
Creeks
This is your best bet and probably will be over the next few weeks as run off continues to raise the flows, plateau and start to head back down. The Eagle River Headwaters, Brush Creek, Upper Gore and Homestake are the ticket right now. Believe it or not, smaller patterns have been the ticket under a large amount of weight. Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails are killer right now as are RS2’s and Prince Nymphs. Check road/trail conditions in advance!
Colorado River
Salmonflies left as quickly as they came though the Pat’s Rubber Leg is still turnin’ heads. If you could only fish one fly, it would be the pink worm. Something about that pink worm has those browns and rainbows all bugaboo. Per usual, fish the banks for optimal success (that’s great for wade fishermen) and don’t be afraid to throw some dries. You can kill two birds with one stone this time of year by chucking a PMX or a big Stimulator as there are caddis, little black stones and the few remaining salmonflies. Be safe!

Another year, another great way to introduce the sport you love!

Back for 2015, Minturn Anglers is offering their Fly Fishing School at both locations (Minturn and Parker) once more. Classes will be every weekend starting April 11th and 12th and run through November.
NEW THIS YEAR is a 1 Day Fly Fishing School; a condensed class with 3 hours of education in the morning followed by 3 hours of fishing and on-stream education in the afternoon. We’ve created this class for the fast learner in your life who’s looking for professional assistance. Same awesome instruction, same awesome fishing, one less day! At $78, you cannot possibly go wrong!
Minturn Anglers 2 Day Fly Fishing School is two days of education (Sat & Sun) for only $111 (originally $325). One day of class, and one day of on-stream education/guided fishing will have you or the one you’ve gifted this treat to able to go out and fish on your/their own immediately after the class. Waders, boots, rod and reel are provided. Please share with those who’ve been buggin’ ya to take them fishing! IFFF Fly Tying Skills Award Program – Thursday June 25th

IFFF Fly Tying Skills Award Program
Click for more information on the Award Program

Come participate in Parker on June 25th – 7pm!

This is an incredible program put on by The International Federation of Fly Fishers that encourages members to develop and improve their fly tying skills at their own pace through a structured learning plan with progressive goals.

The Awards Program is managed for and on behalf of the Fly Tying Group of the IFFF. Three awards (i.e. Bronze, Silver and Gold) are offered for demonstrated skill in fly tying that require submittal of fly collection for evaluation and review. Each collection is of increasing diversity and complexity of tying methods.

Come by the Parker shop on June 25th at 7pm to learn more about the program, courtesy of FFF Certified Casting Instructor/Bamboo Fly Rod Maker/Fly Tying Instructor – Ed Berg. He will talk about the program itself, how to submit your flies and how to win an award!
The Awards Program is for IFFF members though this presentation is open to the public!More information on the program can be found here >>>
