Minturn Anglers Kids Camps |
Be a hero this Summer!
Hands down a guide favorite, Minturn Anglers’ Kids Camps are an awesome way to get the little tykes involved in the timeless sport of fly fishing. Take a day to poke around Vail while knowing that your child is having the time of their life on our local small creeks. The young ones will spend a half day fishing, playing fishing themed games, flipping over rocks, collecting bugs and hiking. The Kids Camp continues to grow in popularity and has been offered for over 3 years now. Return customers are not uncommon, sometimes 3 to 4 days in a row! The coolest part? It only costs $135 and for an extra $60 we throw in a complete fly fishing combo kit – rod, reel, backing and line! Book now for the highlight of your child’s Summer.

Front Range Fishing Reports |
Deckers
The South Platte has plateaued at 1100cfs and continues to remain off color and high. Fish are still being caught though and the fishermen have looked elsewhere so it wouldn’t hurt to make the trek down there. Bring two different flies and plenty of em… Pats Rubber Legs and Pink worms. Are you noticing a run-off theme here? Smethurst’s Stone Bomb has also been catching fish as well if you’d like a third option. Fish close to the banks under excessive weight. Use heavier tippet to horse the fish into slow water. It’s the only way you’re gonna land em!
Arkansas River
The Arkansas at Pueblo is cruisin’. Fish the banks just like Deckers for best results or follow the river up to Salida or Leadville to take advantage of the caddis and bwo hatches. It’s high there too so bring your bigger flies too! Stillwater Your best option by far right now is to abuse the local lakes and ponds. Not familiar with your local stillwater? Open google maps, look for a blue circle and go there. Honestly any still water in the Front Range that has fish in it is productive right now. Whether you are looking for trout, bass, carp or pike – the lake and pond fishing has been producing great results. The bass bite locally in Parker is nothing short of awesome in the mornings and evenings, with black and olive streamers taking the most fish. Topwater aficionados should be running poppers along weed and grass lines with explosive results following. If you see the bass or carp spawning, it’s no different than trout! Leave em alone!
