Denver’s Front Range doesn’t typically get the ugly weather that our water in the Vail Valley experiences so on most days it can be a very pleasant experience. Pick the nicest day in the week and expect to see hatching midges and blue winged olives and hungry fish eating below the surface as well as sporadic rises!
The South Platte at Deckers is controlled by a dam so when the warmer water heads towards the bottom of the reservoir in the winter time, it is passed on to the trout downriver. This warmer water will cause fish to become more hungry and aggressive. Fishing can be great all winter long!
We offer discounted walk and wade fly fishing trip rates in the winter and are happy to share our “secret season” with you, the avid angler. Book your trip with Minturn Anglers for a Front Range Winter walk and wade fly fishing trip today!
