Guide’s Choice Hare’s Ear
I was first turned onto the Guide’s Choice Hare’s Ear while guiding on the Eagle River.  I used this fly frequently when floating the Eagle River Caddis Hatch post-runoff. The fly has proven equally effective on the a variety of other Caddis Heavy rivers. What separates this fly from the traditional Hare’s ear is the addition of the soft hackle collar. If fish are splitting hairs, cut off the tail to make it more “caddis like.”
