Eagle River
Now could not be a better time to be fishing the Eagle River. Without snow or hatches, this water is almost untouched and fishing lights out. You can focus your efforts in the deeper pools between Minturn and Edwards for nice rainbows and pre-spawn browns or try your luck between Edwards and Dotsero for some lesser known water with big fish. Streamers are the ticket with nymphing coming in as a close second. These fish are trying to fatten up so bring the meat – articulated streamers, Pats Rubber Legs, 20 Inchers and Slump Busters to name a few. Needless to say, please don’t walk on/fish over spawning beds!!! Need a guide? We got em >>>
Gore Creek

Gore Creek is pretty thin but the fish continue to eat all throughout the day. Dry dropper rigs are interesting the more frisky fish in the middle of the day. A Parachute Adams from 14-20 with small emergers are still catching fish on both. Otherwise, nymphing is the way to go and let’s not make this difficult – worms, eggs and midges.

Colorado River
The streamer bite is on like Donkey Kong. Keep an eye on the weather if you’re going to make that trek. Best fishing is from a boat as the “bikin hatch” has past us. If you aren’t familiar with the Colorado River…  Hire a guide from Minturn Anglers for optimal fishing results! Double streamer rigs with slumpbusters, wooly buggers, autumn splendors and bouface’s will turn a lot of heads. When the streamer bite slows, deep nymphing with small bugs will put a smile on your face, not on the fish’s. See above for great Fall Fishing Specials!

Deckers
Ideal flows of 200cfs are making for some really spectaculr dry fly fishing. While the rest of the crew is in the woods with firearms or hitting other notable streams in the area, Deckers fish have been left almost alone and are yours for the catching. Blue Winged Olives are the meal item of the week with fish being taken on nymphs, emergers, adults and spinners. Feel free to trail those with some 24-26 midges because fish are lovin’ on those these days too. If your tired of 7x tippet and tiny fragile flies, follow the path less traveled and swing soft hackled wet flies or chuck big, delicious, wonderful streamers. If you see spawners, let em be!!!
Creeks
The smaller water is still spot on in and around the Front Range. Lower flows have clean cold water and the rainbows are eating very well. Hit your favorite small rainbow streams because the browns have their intentions on meeting their significant other. That being said, please leave the spawners alone! Hit the high altitude streams while you still can for cutties!

Stillwater

An Indian Summer in Denver has the stillwater still fishing as good as it was in August. Focus on the hottest times in the day for dry fly activity, otherwise hit the inlets of reservoirs for staging prespawn browns or rainbows eating eggs. Don’t be afraid to chuck some big streamers!
Dream Stream
Fishing is picking up slowly down at the Dream Stream with the larger browns moving in slowly but surely. Flows have been cut in half so bring your finer tippet.
