The classroom portion of this week’s learning center will feature a slide presentation  covering  river entomology and fly selection for the South Platte.  Following the presentation will be a tying demo from 12-1 covering commonly fished stoneflies on the South Platte such as Mercer’s Golden Stone, and Pat’s Rubber Legs.

This winter we will be offering an entirely new type of trip on the hard water!  Ice fishing is an extremely fun and extremely productive way to fish some of our lakes through the winter in a heated hut with your best fishing buddies, friends, and/or family. If you haven’t been on the ice you really need to give it a try! If you don’t have ice fishing gear, we provide everything for the days outing.  The ice fishing season will begin in December as soon as we have safe ice.

Every Sunday Afternoon 4-6PM
The purpose of this class is to teach you how to tie trout flies.   We will be offering this class every Sunday afternoon at Minturn Anglers beginning the first Sunday of November and running through the end of March. We will go over tools and materials used in tying flies, how to use them, and how to whip finish. You will walk away with a fly you have tied that we all use on a regular basis.

If you are interested in becoming an accomplished fly tier you can sign up for a 1-on-1 tying class. This class can be scheduled at your convenience seven days a week.  The cost for this class is $125.00 and each person who registers will receive a $125.00 store credit that can be used to purchase fly tying tools, hooks, materials, or fly tying books. In other words the class is free if you buy your materials and tools from us. This one-on-one tying lesson is 3 hours and covers nymphs, streamers, and dry flies.
