Minturn Anglers Spey School

Minturn Anglers is proud to offer a limited Spey and Switch Rod School that will take place on the South Platte River on a section we like to call the DSP . This school is limited in space and will be an extensive day covering Spey Gear and Basic Spey Casting. In addition we will cover all methods of two-handed fly fishing from trout spey to targeting larger waters for Salmon & Steelhead.

This Switch and Spey Rod school will give the students the confidence, skills and knowledge they need to tackle trout, steelhead or salmon on any river.

The workshops also give students crucial one on one time with Scott & Nautilus Pro and Instructor Ty Clifton. The course is designed for the beginning to intermediate spey anglers.

All rental gear including waders, boots, rods/reel and terminal tackle shall be provided for use with the class. Rods and Reels provided by Scott Fly Rods.

Gratuity, fishing license and lunch not provided. All students who participate in the class will receive a $100 MA gift card toward the purchase of any spey gear needs.

Call 720-851-4665 or email Tylerb@minturnanglers.com to reserve your spot

About Ty:

I have been guiding in Colorado for 13 years, cutting my guiding teeth in Western Colorado. This is also where I started Spey Casting, I originally did it for something to do on my days off guiding. Soon, I began to realize what water it opened up for me to fish here in Colorado. It took me to the Pacific Northwest for steelhead and it has grown from there. Along the way making me a better single-handed caster as well! Fishing a 2 Hander has become my preferred method of fishing and I love to share that passion.

In my travels with a Spey Rod it has given me some amazing opportunities to fish with some amazing people like Scott O’Donnald, Jerry French and Ed Ward, some of the god fathers of Skagit Style Spey Casting. I was lucky enough to get to teach a 2-day school with Ed Ward, and I have adapted his way of teaching, which we will use in this class.

Ty currently represents both Scott Fly Rods and Nautilus Reels as a member of their Pro Staff.
