Eagle River
75CFS and going strong, the Eagle River is fishing very well as the weather has been nothing short of spectacular. Rising fish are everywhere through the afternoon up here in the mountains so bring your tiny dries and float them behind a red quill or caddis emerger. Nymphing is taking a fair share of fish too. Small midges and BWO’s are your main patterns as well as eggs and worms . Don’t leave home without Medallion Midges, Rojo Midges in red, WD-40’s and biot Midges. If you’re a streamer person, be here NOW. The lower Eagle River through Wolcott, Eagle and Gypsum is pretty stupid. Double slumpbusters or big articulated nasties are the flavor of choice. Needless to say, please don’t walk on/fish over spawning beds!!! Need a guide? We got em >>>
Gore Creek
Low water or not, the Gore Creek faithfuls keep coming in with ear-to-ear grins. Longer leaders and smaller bugs are helping to hook up during these low flow stages but a streamer through the deeper holes should turn a head or two as the browns are getting all fired up to spawn. That being said, please don’t fish to actively spawning brown trout please!
Colorado River
The streamer bite is on like Donkey Kong. Keep an eye on the weather if you’re going to make that trek. Best fishing is from a boat as the “bikin hatch” has past us. If you aren’t familiar with the Colorado River… Hire a guide from Minturn Anglers for optimal fishing results! Double streamer rigs with slumpbusters, wooly buggers, autumn splendors and bouface’s will turn a lot of heads. When the streamer bite slows, deep nymphing with small bugs will put a smile on your face, not on the fish’s. See above for great Fall Fishing Specials!

Deckers
Deckers is GOOD. Flows at 163cfs are making it safe to cross and hit far edges we haven’t touched most of the Summer. Fish will still eat Tricos even if you aren’t seeing them as well as BWO’s. Worms in the riffles as well as eggs are catching fish. If you like to chuck meat too, now is the time to do it. Put your focus on the upper stretches for the bigger rainbows and browns for your best shot at a grip n grin. Overlooked flies – scuds and craneflies. Keep your box full of em! If you see spawners, let em be!!!
Creeks
Most people have their eyes on bigger water for bigger fish and prespawn browns leaving the smaller water the smaller creeks open for YOU. Fish are acting funky and fattening up for the winter so don’t be afraid to try some bigger bead head patterns for the feisty fish in the group. Hell, fish are still eating hoppers on Clear Creek too! Enjoy yourself but be careful crossing because the spawn is starting earlier on the little water. Hit the high altitude streams while you still can for cutties!
Stillwater
There’s still a smallmouth bite on your bigger lakes and reservoirs but you need to get down to them. Fish steep ledges with sinking lines, crayfish patterns and medium sized streamers. Carp fishing is best on the hotter days. Focus on the flats with 10′ leaders tapered to 3 or 4x and smaller carp bugs. The trout bite is good by inlets and outlets as fish are moving there to stage for the spawn and the other non-spawning species are following them to destroy their eggs!
Dream Stream
Dream Stream is starting to pick up with big browns being seen up and above the Charlie Meyers area. The lower river is fishing well too if you know the right holes. Speaking of holes, the deeper areas are holding some nice fish, salmon too. Lake Chironomids, sowbugs, scuds and worms should always be included in your rig in one fashion or another. Other than that, keep swapping out flies until you find your true killer. It changes everyday. If ya don’t know the Dream Stream well, give us a jingle at the Parker location and hire yourself an experienced Dream Stream guide like Erin Hale, Chad Merten or Scott Thompson.
