Dubbing Loop Leech Tutorial
Yea, you heard me, a leech and I know what your thinking, with all the wonderful variations of stone flies, worms, eggs, and attractor patterns, why in the world would you waste space in your nymph rig with a dull looking leech? It’s simple, I’m lazy, and this particular leech pattern is quick and easy to tie, plus the addition of the “hot spot” gives it the look of an egg sucking leech….And oh yea, it catch’s fish, lots of fish. In fact once in a while it even catches a “war pig”….You know the fish I’m talking about, there usually 18 to 22 inches long, as big around as a football, and hit way above there weight class. It’s not uncommon now that the water has warmed up to hook one of these ill tempered bruisers and have them come crashing out of the water 5 or 6 times throughout the fight, almost to the point of absurdity. And trust me, when you hook one of these pigs, your going to be really happy it’s on the size 8 to 12 leech and not your size 22 point fly. You can find all the materials to tie this pattern at Minturn Anglers fly shops.
